Christmas Season Begins In The Niagara Region!

Welcome to the Christmas season! It started on November first for me, when 96.1 FM started playing Christmas music 24-7! Christmas music, Christmas lights, Advent calendars, shopping, and the anticipation of the big day - Christmas Day!

Of course, there are other parts of Christmas too, like religious services and observances, time with family and friends, work and social parties, parades, and anything else we do to celebrate the season. We hope that everyone has a great holiday season 2026!

It’s Time For Christmas Lights

Now that Halloween is over, it is safe to put up the Christmas lights without someone saying it is too early. One of the many great things about the Niagara region is our somewhat mild winters that start later than other parts of Canada experience. It is possible to find a day with no snow, no ice, and minimal wind for doing the potentially treacherous work of putting the Christmas lights up. Just remember that safety comes first so you can prevent injuries to yourself and others.

The Fort Erie Santa Claus Parade

The Santa Claus Parade is happening on November 21, 2026. We are very excited about this! We will have a float in the parade and plan on having a great time.

Last year, we enjoyed having a float in the parade. Instead of handing out candy, we planned on giving children colouring books. Unfortunately we ran out of colouring books about half way along the parade route and had to switch to giving out candy like everyone else.

This year, we plan on bringing a lot more colouring books, so we hopefully won’t run out this time!

Vendor Markets

If you go to a vendor market in the Niagara region this holiday season, you might encounter us there. We will let you know where we will be for vendor markets on our Facebook page, as we would like you to have the chance to meet us and tell us about your home or office cleaning needs.

Be Calm And Help Others

The holiday season, if you celebrate Christmas or not, can be a stressful time for people. We think that being calm and trying to help others through the holiday season can help make it better for everyone.

There can be strong feelings that emerge during this time of year, hopefully positive, but unfortunately might be negative for whatever reason. It can be a lot for some individuals to handle. So, when someone is impatient in a long line or someone you see looks sad, please give your fellow human some consideration and be kind to them.

Also, if you are in a position where you can help others, we encourage you to give to local charities and the Food Bank. Little things that you do could help someone having a rough time have a better holiday season this year.
