A good microfiber cloth that is well cared for can be washed hundreds of times. These cloths are so effective because they are designed to hold a static charge, which is why they pick up dust so well.

How to wash your microfiber cloths

  1. Shake out all dust and debris

  2. Place load in washing machine with like items only

  3. Use a scent and dye free detergent

  4. Wash in cold water

  5. Dry on low or no heat. Don’t use dryer balls or sheets!

If cloths are really dirty, have a smell, or have a lot of cleaning product on them, place them in a bucket with lukewarm water and some vinegar (approximately 1 cup of vinegar to 11 cups  of water). Let sit for a minimum of 15 minutes. Wash as above.

Microfiber cloths are available in different standards of quality, from dollar store to commercial. For the best experience, higher quality ones may work better.

The humble dehumidifier: likely running alone in your basement month after month, year after year, perhaps without anyone checking to see if it’s running properly!

Consider checking on your dehumidifier to see if it is working well, and perform some maintenance on it, if needed. Damp surfaces in the home can grow mold!

Here are some tips to keep your dehumidifier running:

  1. Read the manual, if you still have it.

  2. Clean any filters and check them regularly.

  3. Wipe the outside (especially air passages) of the dehumidifier with soapy water to clean it off.

  4. If the fan is noisy, check it for dust and use compressed air to blow it out.

  5. If you use a drain hose, make sure it is draining properly and where you want it to go.

  6. And remember to empty the water collection tank every few days.

If your home needs cleaning, give us a call!
