Have you heard about ‘luxury cleaning’ for your home? We have a few times and want to discuss this topic. Uplift Cleaning Company has noticed that some cleaning businesses in the Niagara region claim to offer such a service.

Does Uplift Cleaning Company Do “Luxury Cleaning”?

No, Uplift Cleaning Company does not currently and will not in the future provide ‘luxury cleaning’ services!

We think that providing consistently professional, reliable, and thorough cleaning service to our clients is enough to meet the standards we hold ourselves to as a business.

Why?

We believe that cleaning involves making dirty things clean. We don’t know how cleaning can be done in a luxurious way. In fact, cleaning to us is more about providing excellent customer service around cleaning, in addition to doing an amazing job of cleaning your home or office!

Uplift Cleaning Company already uses the products and techniques that are appropriate for each area of the home or office we are cleaning. We already show up wearing work uniforms, conduct ourselves in a professional manner at all times, and bring the supplies and equipment to get the job done correctly and efficiently!

What’s Up With “Luxury Cleaning” Then?

This is perhaps a way that someone tries to move themselves upmarket by presenting themselves as a high-end option. They may or may not have an actual advantage about their business that makes them more appealing to the clients they are seeking. If it is a matter of offering “luxury cleaning”, by providing the same services for a higher price, then it doesn’t provide added value to the client!

What Are Some Real Advantages For A Cleaning Business?

Here are some things a cleaning business can do that provide added value for their clients:

  • Provide professional dedicated customer service (no chat bots or AI agents)

  • Be a legitimate registered business with the appropriate insurances

  • Have a crew who can clean the smallest apartment to the largest home in an efficient and timely manner

  • Have the knowledge, skills, and equipment to handle any cleaning situation, on any materials, in any kind of home

  • Operate the business according to a human resources manual, ensuring that all of the employees of the business know what is expected of them, and know what to do in adverse situations

  • Get all cleaning staff Vulnerable Sector Checked as a condition of employment, providing clients with peace of mind

  • Not engage in marketing tactics that present something that isn’t necessarily a real concept as a reason to raise their rates

At Uplift Cleaning Company, we have all of the above. If you have any questions about this, you can contact us and we would be happy to answer your questions!

Multi-Purpose Cleaner

Product Review

I tested this product both as a ready to use spray with a spray bottle for cleaning hard surfaces, and mixed according to the directions for mopping a floor.

There was no noticeable scent when using this product or afterwards. I enjoyed that, as it was not irritating to me at any time. For both mopping the floor and cleaning surfaces, Eco-Max Multi-Purpose Cleaner and Odour Neutralizer did not create any odours that I could notice. I am usually sensitive to products that have a strong odour or chemical smell and I had no issues with using this product in that respect.

When used to mop the floor, the largest challenge was mixing the multi-purpose cleaner correctly at a 1:32 ratio. I used a disposable 2 ounce bathroom cup to help me measure accurately.

Mopping with this product resulted in a clean, streak-free, haze-free floor. There was no residue on the floor after. It performed better than most, as the floor looked and felt particularly clean after it was mopped. To contrast, there have been products we have tested that leave a haze or streaks on the floor - this wasn’t one of them.

Using the Multi-Purpose Cleaner and Odour Neutralizer from a spray bottle does not require mixing, as it is ready to use. I used this to clean a bathroom sink and counter, a kitchen table, and a wall that was a bit dirty. For the kitchen table, I used a paper towel with this product. For the bathroom sink and counter, as well as the wall that I cleaned, I used a microfiber cloth.

You know how the kitchen table can get sticky after small children have been eating there? I was able to easily and quickly remove all of that stickiness and debris from the table quickly and easily with this product in a spray bottle and wiping it away with a paper towel.

The bathroom sink and counter where I tested this product were similarly easy to clean. It was a matter of spraying it on the surface to be cleaned, and wiping the area with a microfiber cloth until everything was clean.

I found a wall that was in need of come cleaning, where it had picked up hand prints and was just a bit dirty in general. The Eco-Max Multi-Purpose Cleaner and Odour Neutralizer in a spray bottle, used with a microfiber cloth, made quick and efficient work of this job! The results looked great!

Price-wise, this is a 4 liter jug of ready to use cleaner that can be mixed according to the directions for cleaning floors. For normal household use, I think one jug of this cleaner would last for a long time. I bought it from a major Canadian retailer for $14.99. There is certainly a lot of value to having this product at home for cleaning hard surfaces and floors!

There are a few other considerations about this cleaner that I like. It is an eco-friendly product, making it a safer choice for our planet. The range of uses that are listed on the bottle range from cleaning your bathroom, to cleaning your vehicle with it - making it a versatile choice when looking for a multi-purpose cleaner! Also, Eco-Max is a Canadian company. Uplift Cleaning Company likes to use Canadian-made products from Canadian companies where possible.

Pros:

  • Not noticeable scent during or after use

  • Worked well for cleaning a kitchen table, a bathroom sink and counter, and mopping a wood laminate floor

  • Comes in a 4 liter jug

  • A Canadian-made product, from a Canadian company

  • An economical way to clean sealed surfaces in the home or office

Cons:

  • Measuring accurately for mopping the floor could be challenging, as it involves mixing 1 part cleaner to 32 parts water. I used a disposable 2 ounce bathroom cup to help make this easier for me

Where To Get It?

The May long weekend is upon us and this may be the time when you open your cottage somewhere in the Niagara region! We hope you have an enjoyable long weekend!

Where To Start?

Gathering the supplies needed to get the job done is usually our first task. If you are opening your cottage after it has been shut-down over winter, you may need to prepare for more than a regular cleaning experience. As you are opening your cottage for the season, you may want to give your cottage an especially thorough cleaning!

Here are some things you might need:

  • A vacuum, especially one with a HEPA filter

  • A good multi-purpose cleaner for general cleaning of hard surfaces

  • Cleaners that are specific to any special materials in your cottage, so they won’t cause damage when you are making your cottage clean

  • Paper products, like paper towels, surface and disinfecting wipes, toilet paper, and any other paper products you will need for your long weekend. This could include paper plates too!

  • Window cleaner to make those windows sparkly and clear!

  • Microfiber cloths - These are the versatile workhorse of Uplift Cleaning Company! We have a blog post about how to care for these so they will last for a very long time.

  •  A good mop with a pail

  • A duster, like a Swiffer duster with dusting pads

  • To read the instructions for all the products you are using to clean your home! This is so important and can help make your cleaning efforts more effective and of course safer!

Where Do I Start With All Of This?

We have reviewed many Canadian cleaning products that are made in Canada, by Canadian companies. These range from toilet cleaners to disinfecting wipes. Please see our blog posts from earlier this year to learn more about the products we have reviewed. Most of the products are from ATTITUDE or Eco-Max. There are so many good cleaning products from these companies to choose from and they are not paying us to say that! That is our honest opinion!

A big advantage to using Canadian cleaning products, is that most of the ones we have tested have been eco-friendly, worked well, and were available from major Canadian retailers and online. These are not niche products that are difficult to find. Nor are they particularly expensive, compared to similar products.

Choosing Canadian cleaning products to use on Victoria Day long weekend seems like a particularly patriotic way to open your cottage!

What About Bugs And Rodents?

As we live in the Niagara region, we have to take into consideration ants, mice, squirrels, and other bugs and rodents that might have damaged your cottage or even made it their residence too!

It is important that when you arrive at your cottage, inspect all areas inside and out for signs that bugs and / or rodents are present. That way, you can make a trip to the hardware store once to get anything you need to clean-up and handle the situation.

Uplift Cleaning Company doesn’t do bugs or rodents, as we are a cleaning company. We suggest that you talk to someone knowledgeable about this in order to get the best results. Perhaps it is simply asking a salesperson at the hardware store for advice about mouse traps or remedies for ants, or if it is really bad, an exterminator or pest control company.

We recommend making sure that the inside and outside of your home are intact or getting repaired, if you have trouble with bugs and rodents. That way it doesn’t get worse and you can get your cottage back to being pest-free as soon as possible.

Take The Easy Way!

If all of this sounds like something you would rather avoid doing, you can always contact Uplift Cleaning Company and we can clean your cottage for you! We have a crew able to handle even the largest cleaning jobs, the equipment and supplies to provide a professionally cleaned cottage when we are finished, and the knowledge about how to clean all kinds of surfaces in a home or cottage!

Have A Great Long Weekend!

Uplift Cleaning Company hopes that you have a great long weekend, whether you are opening your cottage or not! Warm weather is upon us and the start of summer is nearly here!
